Highest Romanian awards
and Honors for Gymnasts and coaches
Romanian president Ion Iliescu have awarded,
two hours ago, to the men's and women's gymnastics team, the
highest Romanian medals and honors.
 All
Romanian medallists from Athens were given different types
of Presidential Medals, depending of their achievement.
Also some coaches, including (a first in Romania) those who
have first discovered and trained the athletes, and some officials
were given Presidential Medals.
 President
Ion Iliescu is a well known gymnastics fan and strong supporter
of Romanian gymnastics.
He was in Athens to support the team during qualifications(photo,
center,with glasses)and have delayed with two hours his depart
in a Presidential tour inside the country to welcome the gymnasts
at the airport (photo at right).

Achievement Medal, First Class (highest Honor for any
Romanian athlete) was given to:Oana Mihaela Ban, Alexandra
Eremia, Catalina Ponor, Monica Rosu, Nicoleta Daniela Sofronie,
Silvia Stroescu.
Sport Achievement Medal, second class, with two straps,
to: Marian Dragulescu, Marius Daniel Urzica.
