[Dec 2] RGF President
Nicolae Vieru (finnaly) leaving RGF
Reports
from different sources says that RGF President Nicolae
Vieru has told to RGF staff and other sport officials
that he will no longer compete for December 9 RGF elections.
Vieru is known
for reversing his statements and decisions many times in the
past, so anything is possible until the RGF Executive meeting
on Monday.
Only three Romanian gymnastics clubs have supported Vieru
for these elections, so he may want to avoid a shaming defeat
in front of his own protégé, RGF Executive Secretary
Stoica.
The other candidate, former gymnast Marius
Urzica, is seen mostly as a B&B "puppet",
which hope they may influence in future the RGF decisions.
Anyway, Urzica doesn't have any management experience, local
gym clubs can't trust him to make the major changes so badly
needed in Romanian gymnastics. Coaches from local clubs, which
have had suffered mostly from B&B's dictatorship over
past decades, will not give their votes to a B&B's "puppet",
to give them (again!) power in the "new born" RGF.They
can't be so naive.
It's a common mistake in Romanian sports, to "giveaway"
top management positions in federations to former top athletes;
most of them doesn't have any management experience...and
even basic knowledge of heading a major organization. The
universities degrees which some of them (including Urzica)
may hold are from the State Sport University, which is very
"generous"in helping top Romanian athletes to get
a degrees. Even if they are willing to learn, there are no
basic (true) practical management classes/courses, which leads
to completely lack of knowledge for those who want to leads
major organizations with large budgets.
On the other hand, Adrian Stoica have at least the practical
experience of the many years he worked for RGF and is the
only "transitional solution" for the Romanian gymnastics,
until younger (and really better trained) candidate will compete
in next elections.
Even then, at next elections, I can't see Urzica as a proper
candidate, he seems to be a weak person and is already over
the (bad) influence of those which have dragged Romanian gymnastics
in (too) many scandals over past years, following only their
own interest$. The proper candidate should be a strong person,
to resist in front of B&B's "coups & retreats
& scandals", which I feel will not end so easily,
as they pretend.
