Simona Amanar was named as Vice President of the Ethics
Committee of Romanian Olympic Committee. During the next three
weeks, the Comitee will prepare her Status forms. The new
comitee will have as model the CIO similar comitee, an independent
panel who judge any sport matter of the affiliated members.

Gala
Girls from the (new) Olympic Team have attended this evening
the TVR 2 Charity Gala (fund raising for Asia floods victims),
broadcast by TVR 2 (20,00-21,30 /local time).
You can see the show Sunday after 21,00 GMT, on the TVR website,
on the TVR
International broadcast page. Between 21,00 GMT and 23,00
GMT, (only!), you can use this direct link TVR2
Gala. The girls are in the first row, white shirts and
(?!...) blue jeans, Belu (of course) in black-like everybody
else. Only Alexandra have had a (more appropriate) black,
classic shirt.

Ponor is among the special guests stars in a (previous
recorded) show, at Romanian National Television, aired right
now (3 hour show), named "The Most Loved Romanians".
This is the most important show among all Romanian national
televisions. Catalina Ponor can be seen in the first row (at
left)-near the most important Romanian VIP's. The program
may be seen through satellite dish (in Europe and US), on

Raducan-alike "Nurofen"case in tennis: Kuznetova
took a cold and...
Russian tennis player Svetlana Kuznetova was tested positive
after a charity game in Belgium; since this was not an official
competition, she will not be punished by the tennis ruling
board, WTA. Svetlana was found positive with ephedrine, it's
common used for helping the body to fight against cold. "I
was cold during that time and took medicines to treat the
cold"-said Svetlana.Her story bring again into media
attention the Raducan Sydney saga, when the Romanian Olympic
champion was tested positive for same ephedrine, after taken
"Nurofen"for a flu.
The "overweight fines"
system works well in soccer...
...Not that we encourage its use in gym or something, but
a Romanian soccer club ( FCM Bacau) have used last Christmas
this way, to prevent their players getting overweight. The
announced fine was like $130 for each extra kilo (this is
a monthly income for a worker in that region, Moldavia, the
poorest in the country, where Raducan come from). Back from
the holidays, all the players from that soccer club have passed
the weight test-no fine was needed. For the moment, Belu can
only dream about this, most of the girls get 3...7 kilos during
past few months, due to the less training, age body changes
and...Christmas delicacies."I've got myself only six
kilos in last two years (after retire), but also I've got
7cm in height-says former team member Oana Petrovschi, being
herself amazement about girls weight."

Sunday morning, the Gold Team have attended the hockey
"Romanian Cup" final, hosted by a sport hall nearby
the girls training center.Catalina Ponor have started the
game, a first in Romanian sport (to have a VIP, opening a
game). The hockey game itself ended with a scandal, the referee's
being accused by taking the winner side -Steaua Club, the
club where Silvia Stroescu and Oana Ban were registrated.

team since 1975 . What bothers me is the way Belu expresses
himself in the matter. The way he talks about his gymnasts

Tarom will fly again to New York, Canada and Beijing
In a live show, Monday evening, at Romanian TV station "Realitatea",
the Romanian new President, Mr.Traian Basescu, said that "Canceling
the flight to overseas destinations to US, Canada and China
(by the former leftist Government, replaced last November)
was a big error and we must have again these flights back;
this is not a must-for -profit problem, it's a matter of national
symbol-having our own flights over the ocean or continents."
For Romanians living abroad or US gymnastics fans who may
consider visiting Romania or coming at Ploiesti International
Championships, this may be a good news, since Tarom prices
were usually 10-45 % lower than what other companies have
on same destination.
