Ponor, the Romanian Gymnastics Angel for Euros?
Catalina
Ponor may be "The secret Weapon" ( original
"asul din mineca") of Belu at Euros, competing for
the first time in her career at AA competition, said the Romanian
State television. Due to Sofronie
in jury (leg ankle problems), Catalina
is the only one who may compete in AA contest. (Of
course Leonida Floarea is there, too, but nobody really think
she can do it at AA?).
Sofronie
was shown on the Romanian TVR2 this evening (local
time in Romania) sitting on a bench and using ice cubs bags
on her ankle.Useful, but still far from 21st Century medicine
which should be used to treat the World Best Gymnasts. Romania
is still well behind civilized world in many areas. Maybe
RGF should ask Belu to really start spending those 30% form
the "gift tax" he has collected past 10 years, to
buy good medicines/ accessories. Anyway, Sofronie will do
only UB-and this is not the best apparatus for Romanians past
10 years, Petrovschi being the only exception during this
time.
We still keep our fingers crossed for Catalina's success in
her first AA competition, but we are afraid there is a great
risk for her to ruin the image of "Athens Queens"
if she fail, just to save B&B's a$$es and justify somehow
their past two months huge payments (according to local standards)
for something which already looks like just a trip to Debrecen.
If she does make a good score on AA, Catalina
Ponor will become the Romanian gymnastics team Angel,
too.
