The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) authorized the
International Gymnastics Hall of Fame to select the Male and
Female Artistic Gymnast of the Year.
The gymnasts nominated are Paul Hamm of the United
States, Kyle Shewfelt of Canada, and Yang Tae Young
of South Korea and Svetlana Khorkina of Russia, Carly
Patterson of the United States, and Catalina
Ponor of Romania.

The results will be announced May 21, 2005, at the 9th Annual
International Gymnastics Hall of Fame Induction ceremony in
Oklahoma City, Okla.

based exclusively on competitions results, since the
sport is based on them ?!
According to results, Catalina
IS the best gymnast of the year 2004-with Carly Patterson
being the most complete gymnast due to the AA Olympic title.
However, since top sport officials seems not knowing their
own business
( I mean officials making wrong types of classifications,
mixing the results and the popularity among fans-which are
different matters), we do have a moral obligation to support
Catalina Ponor here, as a Romanian gymnastics website. So,
we invite you to vote for Catalina.
