Nadia
Comaneci documentary and interview on TVR2
[Nov. 1st] The Romanian TVR 2 channel will broadcast Saturday,
November 5, (16.00-17.00 hours) a program with & about
Nadia
Comaneci. The interview with Nadia was taken by a famous
Romanian journalist, Cristian Topescu (editor in chief of
"Prosport").The program will include a documentary
about the "perfect 10 Girl" and the magic moments
of Montreal Games.
So sad these memories may be (not so easy, I hope, despite
some idiots may want) forget soon, after the next year start
of the New Code- we shall see "clever"scores like
"17.2" ; "19.4" and so on. Being so close
(very close- if you know what I mean- some people said) of
"Mr.G"), Nelli may taste the sweet taste of the
revenge on our dear Nadia, after so many years. Her bad influence
over "Mr.G" already made a lot of trouble to the
whole gymnastics community. With the new "fantasy"
scores people will get even more confused about wtf those
tumbling mean. They already made gymnastics contests looking
more like circus, with as many tumbling as possible, reminding
people of Mark Twain and his jumping frog story, rather than
the real beauty of gymnastics.
The whole Olympics movement is now based on US money. All
games are, first of all, based on TV distribution rights and
the big ca$h come from US.
Also the US has the most powerful gymnastics in the world-by
far the largest number of club members, largest gym-related
busines=influence over manufactures sales .
The Romanian gymnastics may get "the hit" of the
new score system, into their biggest National Legend ( the
Nadia's 10 score at Montreal), but the US gymnastics will
suffer even bigger consequences.
Confused (on the new stupid score) people will not be so willing
to pay big bucks to attend gym events. Angry US people may
think about sending
e-mail to the US
embassy in Moscow, asking them why they keep giving tourist
visa to Mrs.K, since she get paid jobs in US (gym clinics
at local clubs). It's not legal and this can be a good reason
to have future applications denied. It's nice to take benefit
from US life, not so nice to punch the hand who feed you.
Parents may ask local clubs why they keep
invite (and pay) their hard earned money for gym clinics provided
by a lady which have such a negative influence on US gymnastics.
The 9/11 terrorists have used US as training camp to learn
how to pilot a plane; these gymnastics *terrorists* are using
US funds to destroy what B&K have left from the good old
days of gymnastics.
People should have enforced in sports (& politics), long
time ago, the rules from any small enterprise: if you have
the age, get retired! It's a fact that most old people have
different levels of retards (after age of 40, each person
loose thousands of brain cells every day; if the "starting
value"was already low, you can imagine...). I'm sick
about top sport leaders who are in their 70's or even 80's
! Go fishing, raise your nephews or plane your incoming funerals
(no joke, this is the tradition in some countries). In my
native country , if you are like 62 years old, you have to
retire, they consider you are no more strong enough to work
or rule a company. In most sports, they let 70 years old people
to block any reforms and cut the wings of the young leaders.
We should have in sport something similar from politics: no
matter how "good" or not you are, you can not compete
for a top position more than twice. (And have a maximum age
to do that). Otherwise, these dinosaurs will get back the
Planet from us.
Romanian gymnastics during 80's
The TVR1 documentary & interview with Nadia (Saturday)
aired some of their best archive footage with Nadia. Looking
at her floor exercise at Montreal-she was such a cute girl,
nice smile, beautiful artistry- can make you think yourself?
Where the hell did the "good old days"have gone?
The ruining campaign of B&B's "medal at any price"
from the 90's have left us with an almost robotics gymnastics.
Looking at Nadia's evolution on bars, back in '76, it's like
having a nice cake and then...coming back to those diet salt
biscuits B&B's have left us. You can name (yourself) "one
of the best coaches in the world" when your girls doesn't
have bars exercises? Nadia was the product of a team work,
Karoly was clever enough to work with a very good choreographer
and other coaches. Of course we lack at artistry when we don't
have somebody in charge of it, only a lady who was imposed
at team and pretend to do this.
