Liukin about Catalina Ponor on TVR1
Romanian State TVR1 aired tonight a shocking (in good sense)
short interview with Nastia Liukin.
Asked about Catalina Ponor, Nastia said that she admire her,
she is a very good gymnast on beam and Fx (maybe this interview
was taken before Fx qualif.), an Olympic champion which has
all her consideration.
Not only nice, but when saying all those nice words Nastia
seems to be sincere (from body language, eyes and few other
things an experienced journalists can mostly know, same way
as an investigator, if you say the true).
Nastia's (fair play) attitude was very nice and sad for some
of us, who knows details about the "brainwashing program"
at Deva past years, which include a "hate the Americans"
section . I can't see any of the past Romanian champions speaking
(sincere) so nice about Carly, and this is not their fault,
but of a stupid system. Hopefully, this will change next year
with the new coach(es); I will send to them the disk with
Nastia interview, as a model.
I have to spoil one of our year-ending surprises by telling
you that not only the Athens US team will get our Annual Award
(for their fair play, congratulating Romanian team for Gold
but mostly for applauding after Catalina's last evolution,
which basically ruined US team dreams about Gold), but also
Nastia for these statements.
Thank you, Nastia, you have lost a (Gold) medal at Worlds,
but you have what you need to become a great champion and
this is all about what counts!
Nastia's answering about her opinion over
Ponor:
" She is really great, you know; she's like extremely
great on beam and floor; she's the Gold medalist on the Olympics;
I know she's competing in the beam final and I know she's
gona do really well."
