Wars, Worlds episode: Clone's revenge over the Stars
We can say that the amazing (predictable)
results of the US gymnasts in Melbourne are a nice victory
of Karoly's. Years after they had "cloned"the Romanian
gymnastics system into the US, they can get a(nother) victory
over the former Stars. A temporary one, I might say, because
the Romanian gymnastics have a long history of reborn from
her own ashes.
The US victory at recent Worlds is a (small) revenge for the
defeat in past year Olympics.Next two years (2006 may still
be their year) the Romanians have to work (again) like hell
to regain the ground, but... they always do.
"Not since the Soviet Union boycotted
the 1984 Olympics has the American women's gymnastics team
done so well in a major international competition. That year,
the Americans won eight of 18 medals with a major competitor
absent. But with four golds, four silvers and a bronze last
week, the new generation of American gymnasts showed they
were top of the world Down Under. Nastia Liukin, Chellsie
Memmel and Alicia Sacramone produced the American women's
best performance in a world championships, winning nine of
the 15 individual medals. There was no team competition this
year."-wrote the today's US newspapers "American
women top medal tally at world gymnastics championships"
The above quotes can easy be used
as an "B&B's gymnastics" epitaph: they (may)
have build the Romanian gymnastics past years, but they have
"killed" it, too, with their unprofessional attitude
shown past 12 months.
We need to make a step further and start from scratch...with
new coaches & attitudes. It's time for Romanian gymnastics
to learn from their previous "students"-the US gymnastics,
where the discipline is maintained, but also there's respect
for athletes-something which B&B never heard of.
