Gymnastics celebrated at Presidential Palace
Bucharest/ Romanian Gymnastics Federation and
former Romanian gymnastics coaches Adrian Goreac and Maria
Cosma had received today Presidential Awards during an official
ceremony at Cotroceni Presidential Palace in Bucharest.
At her 100 years Anniversary,
the Romanian Gymnastics Federation has received "Ordinul
Meritul Sportiv" clasa I. Mr.Adrian Stoica, the President
of RGF, has received the RGF Award.
Former
Romanian gymnastics coaches Adrian Goreac and Maria Cosma
received "Ordinul National Serviciu Credincios, in grad
de comandor".
The Romanian President Traian Basescu has
pointed that, during the 100 years existence, the Romanian
gymnastics federation had obtained more than 300 medals -
260 medals for WAG and 70 medals for MAG.
President Basescu said that merithous coach
Adrian Goreac is receiving the award because during his career
as National coach (1982-1990), Mr. Goreac has gained 67 medals,
about 1/3 of total medals which the Romanian gymnastics WAG
team got during the history.
Nadia Comaneci, former Romanian gymnast,
awarded President Basescu "The Nadia Comaneci Trophy"
.
Before the meeting with the whole
Romanian gymnastics delegation, the Romanian President have
met FIG President Bruno Grandi and FIG members.

Gymnastics Federation decorated on century anniversary

Romanian President Traian Basescu awarded the
Romanian Gymnastics Federation (FRG), the Sports Merit Order
Class I, on Saturday, on the special occasion of FRG 100th
anniversary. Basescu also awarded ex-coaches Maria Cosma and
Adrian Goreac the Faithful Service National Order in Commander
rank.
On the same occasion, the president pointed out
the fact that from 1958 when Romania won the first medal in
gymnastics till today, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation
brought Romania more than 300 medals, 260 won by female gymnasts
and 70 by male ones, medals that rewarded the value, the work
but also the tradition the Romanian gymnastics School has
created, and at the same time, brought a huge joy to all Romanians.
The Romanian Gymnastics Federation is by far the most successful
Romanian sports federation, Basescu said and voiced hope the
Romanian flag and anthem will keep the right to be looked
at and listened to, respectively, thanks to the Romanian sports
people successes, in the future world championships and the
Beijing Olympic Games. Basescu thanked all the sports people
and their coaches and the Romanian Gymnastics Federation for
everything they have done for Romania.
