Izbasa named Romanian Athlete of 2006
Bucharest/ Sandra
Izbasa was named Romanian Athlete of 2006, while
Catalina Ponor got second place; she did not attend
the ceremony (scarlet
fever).
Marian
Dragulescu got the Romanian National Sport Award for
2006, the fourth time in the six years; Flavius
Koczi got the third place on Men's list.
Romanian gymnastics team coaches Nicolae
Forminte (WAG), Dan
Grecu (MAG) and Matei Stanei, Catalina
Ponor's coach
also get awards. Romanian Gymnastics Federation got an award
for best results in Romanian sport during 2006.
"Marian
Dragulescu and young Sandra
Izbasa are able to get medals in Beijing," said Octavian
Bellu, former coach of Romanian gymnastics team and
now the head of Romania's sports body.
