BUCHAREST/ Catalina
Ponor, the Romanian gymnastics Star, has
returned Monday to training at National training Center in
Bucharest, after a two weeks pause caused by scarlet fever.
Catalina
Ponor was supposed to stay in quarantine,
but her flashing red convertible car couldn't get unnoticed
by her local fans, during late evenings, nearby Constanta's
main disco, a Ceausescu's former communist propaganda and
brainwash-alike center named "The House of Culture".

Robert
Stanescu,
Catalina's boyfriend and
member of the Romanian gymnastics male team, was emergency
hospitalized last Saturday due to scarlet fever. The scarlet
fever has a 21 days incubation period, which mean he got it
weeks ago.
"The scarlet fever is in the air and
he probably got contaminated through air" says Catalina
Ponor. She may be right, with a small detail
added: that "contaminated air" was inches closes
to Catalina, also...:-). What are the odds for Catalina's
boyfriend to be the first to have scarlet fever at MAG team,
and have it from another source?
After many yet-to-be-proved statements about
her returning to competitions plans, Catalina
Ponor now face the risk to have her image
seriously damaged by this incident, due to the popular believe
that she is the main cause for this medical emergency at the
male team: her boyfriend may have been contaminated everybody
around. From the Queens of Athens she may become the Trojan
horse of Romanian gymnastics, which is pretty bad for a career
ending.
Dan
Grecu, the main coach of male team: "All the
boys from the team and coaches also got the prevention treatment
with antibiotics; it's really a bad timing for this medical
emergency, because we can anticipate to have more cases of
scarlet fever at the male team, just one or two days before
European Gymnastics Championships [April 26-29] in Amsterdam."
"Scarlet fever is dangerous for us,
our doctor told us, too; we are a little bit scared by this
event, we don't want to loose European Championships because
of it.", Says Razvan
Selariu, team member.
Romanian gymnastics male team leader Marian Dragulescu:"If
it wasn't so close from European Championships or if it could
happen after it, I couldn't care less; but this is the worst
moment to have a medical situation at the team."
"All Razvan
Stanescu's colleagues
are saying that he is Catalina
Ponor's
boyfriend."
