[April
12] Ploiesti Internationals, last test for Romanian gymnastics
romanian-gymnastics.com
PLOIESTI / Romanian International Championships, the last
test of Romanian gymnastics team before European Championships,
will start tomorrow at Ploiesti, a refinerys city 40 miles
North Bucharest. TVR International will broadcast on
web.
Nicolae
Forminte, the main coach of women team, will put on
test Sandra
Izbasa, Steliana
Nistor, Aluissa
Lacusteanu and Andreea
Grigore (they look for a place in the team for Euros)
and juniors Gabriela
Dragoi, Cerasela
Patrascu, Madalina
Gutu, Andreea
Acatrinei, Adriana
Tamarjan and Ana
Maria Tamarjan .
Nicolae
Forminte
has complained once
more about the girls health; past
months he seems to always complaining about something, starting
with referees at Worlds last year and again at World Cup this
year. Bad attitude. If he can't show a high level team at
these Championships, this could be his Black Friday.
The Romanian gymnastics team in Deva
does not have a doctor since 2000, after the (in) famous Doctor
Oana, the one who apparently took the blame of giving
to Andreea
Raducan the *Nurofen pill*, left the team.
Romanian Gymnastics Federation
couldn't find any more doctors to work exclusively for the
team (and to take the blame, eventually :-). Having
young girls (very young ones) working hard each day and being
under-nutrited (an old "recipe" used by Nazis and
communist regimes in labor camps, for...extermination!), you
get what?... Accidents, caused by the weak of their bodies.
Maybe RGF want to keep this cruel and abusive nutrition-poor
regime, to keep their girls flying like birds, since their
bones are filled mostly with air instead of vitamins and calcium...It
would be fun, if it weren't hundreds of cases of girls with
their health destroyed for life. Instead of a menu written
by a nutritionist, the girls receive mostly ordinary food
from Deva school canteen, including salami and heavily cooked
food- which is not recommended to any kid, if you want him
healthy!
Catalina
Ponor has arrived in Ploiesti with the
men's team, because she has trained separately in Bucharest.
She promise to do her best for competing "if not at Euros,
then at Worlds". Promises, promises...Sounds great for
fans, but looks hard to keep, after a (too) long break from
gymnastics. "We don't know if she will compete at
Ploiesti or she will compete out-of-contest" , says
Matei Stanei, Catalina's coach.
The men's team in Ploiesti will be: Marian Dragulescu,
Razvan Selariu,
Flavius
Koczi ,
Marius Berbecar, Adrian
Bucur, Ovidiu
Buidoso, Daniel
Popescu .
After a 25 years career in Romanian gymnastics
and most of them being each year with his team at Ploiesti,
former coach Octavian
Belu has suddenly discovered that Romania's
International Championships "It's not that type of
contest which makes you feel like a big event. Romania deserve
to have a World Cup contest." It could have been
already an World Cup event, if Belu himself asked for it;
he was more than a coach, he was a member of Romanian Gymnastics
Federation Board; by many, he and his life partner Mariana
Bitang (her official
Bios is the only one which does not mention her marital
status?) practically owned Romanian gymnastics past decade,
so...he must look into the mirror if he want to blame somebody
for what it hasn't been done. Sometimes
he speaks like he just landed from Mars...
romanian-gymnastics.com has
discovered, during a recently routine video
review , that some of Nicolae Forminte's gestures at last
year International Championships were exactly as those described
on Marinescu's
book.
Excerpt
from "The
Secrets of a Gymnast" :
... The only problem was that they couldn’t behave as they
did at home, because all the trainings in Atlanta were open
to the public and most of the time the gym was full. Thus
they found an alternative solution for the usual slapping
from Deva.
“They
would come close to us when we failed some element and put
their hand on our shoulder like a father. Only that the hand
would grab us by the muscle and tighten us very hard, that
we almost burst into tears. Nobody could see that, because
from the distance you could only see a coach staying with
his hand on a gymnast’s shoulder and giving her some advice.
In the evening, when we were undressing and looking in the
mirror, we were all frightened seeing the bruises on the shoulder”,
says Alexandra.

At
our request, Nicolae
Forminte has commented his gestures from this
video in a written message:
" I told you before, if I choose to live, think and react
like in Unites States, I would have accepted one of many offers
I have had from there. We, Romanians, are suspicious-sick,
we like to live at
extremes, white or black, but the life is more like gray.
The performance in every field involves some terror, too (the
difference can be named in many ways: discipline, rules, obey
to the Law, contracts).
Alexandra's
book is something which you have read, I lived those
times and, with all the respect and friendly attitude [for
this site]
I think I understand it better."
Original: "V-am mai spus daca as fi dorit sa traiesc
,sa gandesc,sa reactionez ca in America,as fi acceptat unul
din multiplele oferte pe care le-am avut de acolo. Noi Romanii
suntem bolnavi de suspiciune, ne place sa traim la extreme
, alb sau negru, cand de fapt viata este mai mult gri. Performanta
in orice domeniu implica si ceva din teroare
