[Oct. 11] "Leon
" magazine with Catalina
Ponor
"Leon", a German gymnastics magazine, have
just released the issue featuring Athens Olympics. ( Subscribers
have started to receive their copies at the end of last week).
Our forum member, Martina Eggeling from
Germany, send us a scan with Ponor article and photos. Enclosed,
her quotes from articles:
Over the last years the Romanian team received
so many quotes about them being done, that they can`t count
it any more, but they showed those people wrong with their
unbeatable consistency in Athens against the favorites from
the USA.
They also won 3 of 4 event titles. Monica
Rosu did very well on her new vault.

Belu said: "Right after Anaheim we
started working on the 2,5.
Monica Rosu could have showed it at Europeans
already, but then she didn't need it to win. Here we knew,
that the Korean would have the same jump".
The second day of finals was in the sign of Catalina
Ponor. She said: "A dream came true for me.
I especially want to give my thank to my trainers who gave
me the courage for this". With all her titles she was not
just the most successful gymnasts but third in the ranking
of the most successful Olympic athletes. In the AA Romania
is still missing a star though as well as on bars although

Sofronie fought well.
Editor Thomas Schreyer from "Sports
Galaxy" , another German magazine, told to romanian-gymnastics.com
that his magazine will be released on November 2nd. Unfortunately,
it is printed in German version only too, but still interesting
to see thier coverage on Athens.
