[Dec 1st] US
gymnastics scandals: "winning" over the romanian
ones
November 30, 2005 - A suburban gymnastics coach convicted
of sexually abusing some of his students made a plea for leniency.
Michael Cardamone testified Wednesday at his sentencing hearing
in suburban Wheaton. Cardamone was found guilty of sexually
abusing seven young girls.
Cardamone was originally charged with sexually abusing 14
girls while a coach at his family owned gym in Aurora. Last
spring, he was convicted of inappropriately touching seven
girls. He was acquitted of more serious charges involving
seven more girls.

(look for the video link in that page, it will last only 5
days)
On the USAG site, there is a whole list of banned
coaches, "members
have been terminated or have a lifetime ban with USA Gymnastics
and/or will not be allowed to renew their membership",
most of them due to last years scandals involving same accusations.
Comparing these serious scandals to those from
Romanian gymnastics-focused on subjects like girls going to
a disco (in a free weekend) or to a night club, the Romanian
ones seems almost a joke.
Just saw, past weeks (for the second time in
six months) some unedited photos, posted negligence on the
web by top US gymnasts: some photos pictured a girl kissing
another girl, in others girls were obviously having a night
party with lot of alcohol beverages around, poorly "masked"
or forgotten in the picture (cropping would save).
Girls of their age sure needs fun, the US ones enjoy more
theirs liberty (I hope the Romanian ones will be far from
this "level" in near future).
Once more, the US gymnastics has "won".
I don't mind.Not at all.
