[Jan 21] Catalina Ponor- "Gymnast Of the Year" from 9 o'clock newspaper

Athens Olympic champion Catalina Ponor was named as"The Gymnast of the Year 2004" by the most influent English newspaper to appear in Bucharest, "9 o'clock". New democrat President Basescu was himself present at ceremony and left with "The Man of The Year" Trophy, for his spectacular success in last November elections (only two months of -difficult-campaign against some of the the strongest neo communist political leaders in Eastern Europe). Even if the President himself have attended the ceremony, Catalina Ponor didn't come -and the Romanian independent TV stations have underlined her absence. We can't forget that just before elections, Mr.Belu have decided to bring Catalina at another ceremony, where she got a Trophy from the "Romania Mare" Foundation-closed to the party with same name, the only political party specifically named by the US embassy in Bucharest (and many international organizations) like an nationalist-extremist one. Back then, Belu brought Catalina to attend and have a speech, enough to bring a lot of (state) TV coverage for a pro-Communist party, right in the middle of political campaign. Fortunately, despite Belu's support, Romanian neo-communists have (finally) lost elections and are very close to take position at their deserved place. At the history... bin's of trash. Do not recycle, please!
