Girls
celebrated on Women's Birthday; candies
allowed, too...
[March 8] The team was invited today at the
National Sport Agency (ANS), where ANS President Florian Gheorghe
congratulated them and have offered flowers, champagne and...candies.
With a huge media crowd attending the event and a joyful Mrs.
Bitang at their back, girls made a step back when Florian
started to offer them candies.
"It's OK, take them"said a (peacefully) Bitang.
Girls took the candies and most of them just put in their
pockets.
"Come on, Monica, take the candy and eat it, otherwise
they will say again I don't let you" [so nice too see
she is still one of our top "fans" and knows everything
we write here, the very next day].
The ANS President asked to be excused that the only thing
they can give (due to low budget and legal strict requirements
of protocol spending) are flowers and candies.
Being so excited, both Monica Rosu and Catalina
Ponor have smashed their glasses; some of the reporters said
"this bring luck"; not sure about this, according
to Romanian popular traditions, it depends on conditions the
glass is broken, can bring both luck or a ...bad luck. Let's
all hope here was the first case. Girls were allowed (also)
by Mrs. Bitang to drink a little bit of champagne, too.
Floarea Leonida played the role of
reporter and asked girls some questions; all girls says they
want Belu back sooner (he did not attend the ceremony because
of a severe flu; maybe "aspirina saracului" a Romanian
popular, natural and free-calories cure, in big doses, will
help him get better, Mrs.Bi...).
Floarea have had a bad time earlier this month, due to some
problems with another girl on the team; Monica Rosu have accused
her indirectly, not saying her name but naming the other girls
as not being the possible author, as taking her 500 Euros
from Deva room-see bottom of page the news about this. Although
we believe that, beside the fact that money really disappeared,
the spreading of such a "news" back then-in the
"Prosport" tabloid, a "B&B friendly"
newspaper, was only part of B&B campaign to reveal how
"bad" were things going on at team, in their absence;otherwise
such an info would never go out from Deva.
Why the hell girls still don't have personal accounts and
credit cards, as any cleaning lady from a local company may
have, only B&B knows; this is happening even after so
many years after the Toma Pradatu tragedy, when improper,
unnecessary handling of cash-instead of checks or transfers
from bank accounts-but maybe some money must not pass through
legal ways, to avoid tax reporting?...have destroyed that
men life, they didn't learn anything from that lesson; or
don't care. Pry to God Belu, each day, few times a day, for
you having that enourmous luck back then (he was supoosed
to be the one to cary the money&documents bag-if he did,
he could be there in Toma's place). And making more charities
would not hurt. It may help, who knows.
Just a small suggestion for ANS President (& Mrs. Bitang)
: next time, pls ask yours staff to provide chidlren-suitable,
low alcohol champagne (more appropriate for athletes training
and girls can feel the taste without problems) and sugar-free
candies, which they can taste & enjoy, without so much
fear about the next day morning "weight session."
Catalina Ponor have send Congratulations-sms
messages to all her former colleagues, congratulating them
on the Women's day. This was a nice gesture of her and of
Mrs.Bitang (letting her use the phone, at least for sms messages,
on a special occasion, not only during Sundays and Thursdays).
Also
in Bucharest for getting the results of some previous medical
tests, Sabina Cojocar went to the training center and
gave Mrs. Bitang flowers (a tradition on Women's day). Later
she met her (new) boyfriend. She have finished her exam session,
with 99% positive results, if you know what I mean. She had
dyed her hair (from her natural black to red now) and looks
great-see yourself in this exclusive photo. Having this new
boyfriend soon after the dying, seems that she was inspired
to make the change.
The President of ANS Florian Gheorghe was named by one of
the Governing parties, the "PUR" party. Florian
was heavily criticized by the whole Romanian press, due to
his past (a 1971 arrest for a group rape accusation-see both
"Gazeta"
and "Prosport"
articles ) and for taking from three athletes (hockey players)
watches received as gifts at a World Cup; he was also accused
of being a heavily drunken.
Ilie Nastase, famous former Romanian tennis player,
(divorced of his US wife and getting the 3rd marriage with
a 30 years younger Romanian lady, now having a child with
her ) has also criticized Florian for taking the ANS head
position (see "Gardianul"
interview) but today was among the guests of ANS and...take
the Florian side in front of media, asking the media "to
not criticize him any more". Few weeks ago, Nastase told
to "Gardianul"that there are many famous names ,
sport-conected, which deserve recognition in the sport administration,
and he named Nadia in top of the list ( to receive a top position
in Romanian sport).
[Update]
The original "Prosport"article about Deva robbery
Monica Rosu, robbed of 500 euro in Deva
In the past few days, Monica Rosu had 500 euro stolen from
her room in Deva. The gymnast kept her money in a briefcase
and said that no one outside her five teammates had access
to her room. “But I want to eliminate from the start any suspicion
about Ponor, Eremia, Sofronie or Munteanu. Besides the girls
no one except the maid, who’s worked here for a lifetime comes
in, and she would never do anything like that” said Rosu.
Yesterday the gymnast thought about asking coach Lucian Sandu
to accompany her to the police station to file a report after
waiting two days for the money to be returned.
Our note:
Although we believe that, beside the fact that money really
disappeared, the spreading of such a "news" back
then-in the "Prosport" tabloid, a "B&B
friendly" newspaper, was only part of B&B campaign
to reveal how "bad" were things going on at team,
in their absence; otherwise such an info would never go out
from Deva.
