General Interest
At the International stage Sabina's star rose at the 2000 European
Junior Championship in Paris, where she took the silver medal
in the all-around (behind Natalia Ziganshina (RUS);
she became European Junior Champion on Vault and Beam and rounded
up her medal collection with two more silver medals (Floor and
Team).
In the eve of the Olympic Games, Cojocar and her team mate Silvia
Stroescu draw the attention of the world in Paris, but were
yet too young to compete in Sydney. An year later, age completed,
both gymnasts became World Champions with the Romanian team,
in Ghent 2001.
In Belgium Cojocar took the 6th place in the All-around, and
was 4th on Beam. An elegant, very attractive and spectacular
gymnast, outside the gym Cojocar is not much different from
all the young people of her age group, around the world - she
likes to dance; she likes to listen to music (blues!) and she
likes to play with computers....
Was too young to compete in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney
Had shoulder surgery in December 2001
Favorite events are floor and beam
Began gymnastics at the age of 3 1/2, but was so small, she
told her coach she was 5 fearing he wouldn't take her on.
Has appeared on the cover of "International Gymnast" magazine.
Hometown of Sibiu is located in the province of Transylvania,
one of the most popular tourist spots in Romania; Older brother
is Vasi;
